Transitioning from Preschool to Kindergarten is a major step. If your child isn’t old enough to start kindergarten or just needs additional skill development then Somerset Academy Early Learning Center’s Kindergarten Prep is the perfect program for them. Our Kindergarten Prep program is designed to introduce your child to the structure and format of a typical kindergarten day. Kindergarten Prep focuses on the needs of the young five year old. This program builds on skills gained in preschool with an enhanced focus on extended seatwork and kindergarten-level instruction in literacy, math and handwriting. Somerset’s Kindergarten Prep focuses on problem solving, responsive listening, language usage, vocabulary building, and social and collaborative skills.

Developing Leaders

Kindergarten Prep at Somerset Academy Early Learning Center also focuses on leadership development, self-awareness, and civic responsibility. By instilling these values in the children enrolled in our program, we hope to sow the seeds that will heal our community. An emphasis on civic involvement through field trips and partnerships will heighten our children’s awareness of the community around us.

Google™ Classroom

One of the tools used in our Kindergarten Prep program is the Google™ Classroom for children to go online to do their work or seek assistance for a school project. This tool also encourages family participation by connecting and extending the classroom learning activities to the home. By utilizing the latest technologies, we will give our students the best chance to succeed academically and personally.

Progress Reporting

All students enrolled in Somerset Academy Early Learning Center’s Kindergarten Prep program receive learning progress and readiness reports that keep parents informed.
